Nago Pineapple Park
Did you know that Okinawa was once a fertile land dedicated to pineapple cultivation for over a century? However, due to Japan importing large quantities of cheaper pineapples from around the world, Okinawa’s pineapple farms became less competitive in this fruit market.
As a result, local farmers came up with a beautiful idea to transform their fields into entertainment venues for the visitors coming to Okinawa. And now we have the Nago Pineapple Park.
Starting from the entrance of the park, pineapple-shaped characters will wave at you, ready to pose for a memorable photo. Additionally, near the entrance, there are some snack stalls selling ice cream and snacks.
Upon entering Nago Pineapple Park, you’ll have the opportunity to hop on a cute jeep and admire the entire wild pineapple field and the vast tropical garden. Inside the park, you’ll quickly discover intriguing photo spots such as uniquely shaped trees, adorable giant pineapple sculptures, a beautiful cabin with a little pineapple friend, and numerous varieties of prehistoric dinosaurs and surreal dinosaur eggs.
Furthermore, visitors are always amazed to discover a museum displaying various fossils, corals, and shells. This includes the remains of horseshoe crabs, which are prehistoric long-lived creatures on Earth.
Before leaving the park, be sure to stop by the souvenir shop. There are always plenty of choices to bring back for your friends and family, such as pineapple pastries, pineapple-flavored chocolates, pineapple liquor, or freshly picked pineapples straight from the fields. Many of the products here come in typical pineapple-shaped packaging, resembling beautiful little bottles.
